Who we are
As cliché as it may sound, freedom is the heart of Stalwart—both what it is and what we strive to preserve. My journey into adventure began decades ago, hitchhiking and traveling across this beautiful planet. I learned early on to move through the world in any way I could: cross-country bicycle and motorcycle tours, self guided treks through the Himalayas and the Andes, always searching for those rare places where I could exist unobstructed.
Stalwart is the culmination of all those experiences. Sailing eventually revealed itself as the ultimate challenge and the greatest reward. The more I learned, and the more I could accomplish on my own, the farther I could go.
When I restored my first vessel—a 1964 Alberg 30—and set out solo, I felt I had finally achieved my dream. Since then, I’ve devoted every waking moment to continuing to follow my dream and to help others chase their own. My background as a custom carpenter evolved naturally into ship carpentry. My years in academia gave me the skills and patience required to teach. And my sea time—as a full-time liveaboard and cruising sailor, delivery captain, and charter captain—has positioned me to help you gain the knowledge you need not only to go far, but to go safely.
Freedom is within reach. Whether you’re looking to build confidence as a sailor, learn essential seamanship, or need a skilled hand to tackle that never-ending maintenance list, Stalwart is here to support you. Together, we’ll turn your own vision of freedom into a reality.
